Luxury Spa Review- Ayurveda Pura

I spend a lot of my days sitting and bending and the past few weeks have been more strenuous as I've had to make bridalwears for bridesmaids and outfits for a brand's fashion show.
Getting rid of the tension and pain in my lower back had been futile until I had the opportunity to visit one of London's luxurious spa called the Ayurveda Pura Spa and Café. Although it is not like your usual wear-a white-robe-sit-by-the-pool spa, it is mainly a home for physical and mental harmony with nature and healing. This makes it brilliant because, well...my body needs some proper care and it was just the ideal spa for me! Also, what better way to further unwind and relax than visiting the café for some healthy drinks/tea and cooked meals & sandwiches?

First of all, I would like to commend the staff for such a great reception-they didn't even know that I was a reviewer at first. That said a lot about the way they would normally treat their clients.
Before the treatment begins, you will be given a form to fill so that they get to know what kind of approach to use for your treatment and so that you know what body type (dosha) you have- there is Vata (air and space), Pitta (fire and water) and Kapha (water and earth). Mine is Pitta by the way and the masseuse was able to identify what technique was best for me. Also, one of the founders, Dr Deepa Apte came to talk to me about the spa and what they are all about and she gave me a full view of what to expect and an explanation of what my treatment involves.
Now, it was my first time in a spa so I was little embarassed when I was told to remove my clothes (although, I had privacy) I actually didn’t think that it was that big a deal. I mean…what do you expect when getting a full body massage right?

The kind of massage was the Abhyanga whole body massage which involves the use of warm herb infused Ayurvedic oils and powder on the whole body and it lasts an hour. The best part of it was that the masseuse knew exactly the spot of the tension in my back and other parts of my body. To be honest, I actually slept off at some point LOL. When the treatment was done, I had a shower and got dressed. By the time I returned to the reception, I was already offered a nice cup of herbal tea, including a lovely bag of skin care products and bagged tea. I’ve started using the skin care products and so far, so good because they are amazing!
It was indeed a one-of-a-kind experience at the Ayurveda Pura spa and café. My whole body was really at peace afterwards and I could have sworn that I slept better than on other days. I think I’m in need of another treatment soon.
